Smile wide with dental crowns and bridges
Missing or broken teeth?
Damaged or missing teeth can affect more than just your confidence, they can also impact how you eat, speak, and maintain your oral hygiene. At Noosa Family Dental, we use high-quality dental crowns and bridges to restore the strength, function, and appearance of your smile.
A dental crown is used to strengthen and protect a damaged tooth, restoring its shape and durability while preserving as much natural structure as possible. A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth, filling gaps and using the teeth either side for support.
Each porcelain crown and bridge is custom-made to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth for a natural and long-lasting result. Our team is here to help you restore your smile with treatment options tailored to your individual needs.
Crowns Vs bridges
What’s the difference?
If you have a damaged or missing teeth, a crown or bridge can be an ideal solution for you.
A crown is a tooth coloured “cap” that fits over a weak tooth or implant that cannot be repaired with a filling. It fully covers the tooth to the gum line to prevent further damage. When a great deal of the tooth has broken away or decayed, a crown is a good option to protect and keep the tooth. Often in these situations, fillings would not be robust enough whereas a crown will protect and reinforce the remaining tooth structure.
Bridges are used where a tooth is missing and are a great alternative to a dental implant. They are made up of two or more crowns that are fused together, then cemented or bonded into place, anchoring to the teeth adjacent to the gap. These adjacent teeth support the “false tooth”. Oftentimes, a bridge may be chosen in preference to an implant if the teeth next to the gap would benefit from crown placement, or if there are barriers to implant placement such as a sinus sitting to low.

A digital impression is taken of the prepared tooth, which is sent to the dental laboratory in Maroochydore and a temporary crown is placed over your tooth. The laboratory takes between one and two weeks to make the crown or bridge.
In your second appointment, the temporary crown or bridge is gently removed and the permanent one is cemented in.
